Melanie Hall, Track & Field

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has named Melanie Hall as January’s Student-Athlete of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

Hall, a freshman from Birmingham, Alabama has shown to be a true competitor early in her career as a Warrior by making marks in program history. Hall ran the 5th fastest 60m and the 6th fastest in the 200m in program history so far this year with times of 7.98 and 26.86 respectively. Hall was also the member of the 4x400m team that qualified for NJCAA National meet, beating the school record by 5 seconds. Coach Ewing said, “Melanie is a super competitor. She’s the type of athlete who turns her brain off during competition and just competes. Gritty is the best way word to describe her. Her range on the track is impressive. She runs one of the fastest splits on our 4x4 and is one of our best 60m runners. Melanie is equally reliable in the classroom. She has a high workload being a criminal justice major. She does a great job of handling her responsibilities as a student athlete. I’m anxious to see how she progresses the rest of the year and how her success indoors translates to her success outdoors in the 400m hurdles.”
