Tyon Grant-Foster, Basketball

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has tabbed freshman Tyon Grant-Foster as March’s Student-Athletes of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

If anyone didn’t know who freshman Tyon Grant-Foster was on the court this season, the month of March changed that. Grant-Foster turned in an incredible game against Florida Southwestern in the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament this month by filling up the bucket with 25 points, and pulling down 11 boards. During the month, the first year from Kansas City, averaged 13.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Coach Hank Plona said of Grant-Foster, “Tyon has improved as a student-athlete each month he has been here. He’s done an outstanding job his entire freshman year in the classroom as evidence by him being an all-academic All-Region student. Tyon’s improvement on the floor was a huge factor in our success throughout the year.  He did everything he could to help us get a win at Hutch, and I expect him to have many more huge games in his Indian Hills career. I am looking forward to seeing Tyon continues to improve over the next few months and be one of the best players in junior college next season”.
