Morgan Lawson, Cross Country

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has named Morgan Lawson as October’s Student-Athlete of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

Morgan Lawson, a sophomore from Ottumwa, Iowa, ran some of her personal bests during the month of October. She finished the Brissman Lundeen 6k race with a time of 26:32. She was a IHCC second finisher at the Trent Smith Invite 5k with a time of 21:52. At the Region Championship, she set her personal record for a 5k with a time of 21:28 finishing 24th overall and was IHCC’s second finisher again. Coach Ewing says “Morgan is one of the most happy go lucky athletes I’ve been around. She has a positive attitude and embodies the true meaning of student athlete. Morgan’s progress in cross country was very impressive. She went from a 5k personal best of 23:07 her freshman year to 21:28 this year. That’s a testament to her hard work and commitment to our training plan.”
