Amanda Toyota, Volleyball

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has tabbed Freshman Amanda Toyota (Women’s Volleyball) as November’s Student-Athletes of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

Toyota, a freshman from Curitiba, Brazil, is the definition of a Student-Athlete on the Indian Hills Community College campus. She not only racked up 40 digs over the course of IHCC’s 2 districts games (team-high), and had 2 aces, but she also had a cumulative 4.0 GPA for the Fall Term. Toyota is also active on campus, as she serves as a Student Ambassador, and works in the Admissions office. Toyota was previously named the ICCAC DI Player of the Week twice this season, as well as recording a staggering 485 digs during the 2018 campaign. Coach Lyndsey Michel said of Toyota, “She had a tremendous post season run for us. Toy brings an intensity and high energy to every match that is hard to beat.  She sacrifices every match she steps foot on the floor, you can see by her 26 digs in our John Logan match up. She was very deserving of her ICCAC defensive player of the week earlier in the season. We are looking forward to her continued efforts her sophomore year!”
