Alexis Groet, Softball

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has tabbed freshman fire-baller Alexis Groet as February’s Student-Athletes of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

Groet, a product of near-by Oskaloosa, Iowa, has been hammering the strike zone so far this spring for the Warriors. One thing has been evident so far in her young career at Hills, she is not afraid of the big stage, or big competition. Groet and the Warriors have faced: #5 Tyler (TX), #10 Seminole (OK), #11 Howard (TX), and (RV) Weatherford College (TX) this spring. Despite the tough competition, she has compiled 38 punch-outs in 35-innings of work for an average of 7.6 strike-outs per game. “Alexis is a competitor, and fears no one in the circle. Her leadership from the mound this spring is going to be a difference maker for our team”, said Coach Lindsay Diehl. Groet also takes pride in the classroom, and puts forth a great deal of effort towards being a model student-athlete at Indian Hills.
