Tyarra English-Paulson, Women's Track & Field

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has recognized Shane Gatling (Men's Basketball) and Tyarra English-Paulson (Women’s Track and Field), as March Student Athletes of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding work in their respective sport and in the classroom.

English-Paulson is no stranger to the limelight. The 3x national qualifier from Mayer, Minnesota was also the student athlete of the month and the USTFCCCA NJCAA athlete of the week in December. English-Paulson is undoubtedly the most decorated female track athlete in program history, owning indoor school records in five separate events. The freshman qualified for the NJCAA Indoor National Championship meet March 2-3 in the 200, 400, and 600m, making her one of just three females in the nation to do so. Due to scheduling conflicts with the events, English-Paulson focused on the 200m and 400m, shattering her school record in the 200 by .25 seconds (25.34). “Tyarra’s accomplishments indoors have caught the eyes of a lot of people. Her focus in high school was the 300m hurdles. She was a state champion in the event, so we are very excited to see how she transitions to the 400m hurdles this outdoor season,” commented sprint and hurdle coach, Brent Ewing. English-Paulson and the rest of the Warrior track and field team will enter the month of April with a full slate of meets ahead of them that includes the Kansas Relays and Drake Relays.
