The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has named Garrett Takamatsu as July’s Student-Athlete of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.
Takamatsu, a sophomore center from Burlington, Ontario, Canada had solid sophomore season despite injury. Garrett held a .353 batting average for the year while appearing in 42 games. He knocked in 10 home runs and 46 RBI’s. He also stole 6 bases and totaled 38 runs. Coach Torrez stated, “Garrett lead us in every major offensive category. When Garret went down to injury late in the year it left a huge whole in our lineup. He was a great player for us this year and will do wonderful things in the future. He was a great teammate and a wonderful leader on and off of the field.”
