Tomas Woldetensae, Basketball

The Indian Hills Community College Athletic Department has tabbed sophomore Tomas Woldetensae (Men’s Basketball) as November’s Student-Athletes of the Month. This accolade honors student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in both their respective sport, as well as the classroom.

Bologna, Italy, native, and sophomore Tomas Woldetensae’s performance and leadership on the floor are a huge reason the Indian Hills Warriors find themselves as one of the best Junior College teams in the country this season. Woldetensae is currently averaging 15.1 points per game, and shooting nearly 49% from behind the arc. During the month of November, he was the leading scorer in big wins over: #3 College of Southern Idaho, Butler Community College, and Trinidad State. Coach Hank Plona said of Woldetensae, “Tomas is everything that you could possibly wish for in a student-athlete. He is a caring, hard-working kid who is a great teammate and a great student.  He is very active on campus and is as positive of a representation of an Indian Hills student-athlete as we have ever had.  In addition to all that, he is an outstanding basketball player that can score, pass, and does all of the little things to make our team better. He is one of the best guards in junior college and I am excited to have the privilege to continue to coach him as he finishes up his career here at Indian Hills.”
