Terry had two separate stints as the head volleyball coach at IHCC, leading the Warriors to the school’s first-ever national tournament appearance, and he also served as the college’s AD for five years. Before arriving at IHCC, he started and built the volleyball program at Ankeny High School, then left to become the second volleyball coach at Indian Hills, in the program's third year. In his first seven seasons on the sidelines, Terry guided the Warriors to a record of 227-92, and they went 117-19 over the final three years. With his direction, IHCC was third at the 2004 national tourney. Terry later returned to lead the volleyball program for three more seasons, starting in 2009, and he coached five volleyball All-Americans during his Indian Hills career. As Athletic Director, he led a program in which the softball, baseball, volleyball, golf and basketball teams all qualified for at least one national tournament appearance during his tenure.
