Indian Hills Goes 1-3 in Garden City

Garden City, Kansas -- The Indian Hills Falcons managed one victory in a four-game weekend series against the Garden City Broncbusters, the Falcons posting a 14-5 win in the second game of a Friday doubleheader.  Garden City took the first game that day, 10-2, and then, after a day off to wait for better weather, the two teams played twice on Sunday with the Busters winning both, 7-3 and 15-11.

In their lone win, IHCC pounded out 16 hits and got a huge game from sophomore Ryan Humeniuk who was 5-for-6 with three singles, two triples, four runs scored and three RBIs.  Jet Weber provided three hits and three runs and Jake Kristensen had a pair of hits and drove in two.  Alex Fisher homered for the Falcons who employed three pitchers, with Caleb Miley getting the win in relief.  He allowed four hits and one earned run in 4 2/3 innings.  Jordan Bahnuk finished up with two scoreless innings of relief.

Friday's first game saw Garden City break open a close game with two runs in the 5th and five more in the 6th.  IHCC was held to five hits including an RBI double by Humeniuk.  Hunter Capps, Will Zimmerman, Christian Pena and Jay Hester had the other hits.

On Sunday, the Busters took game one.  Four of the Falcons' eight hits went for extra bases -- doubles by Zimmerman, Weber and Fisher and a triple by Pena.  Jameson Hart knocked in two runs.

The Falcons hurt their cause with seven errors in the nightcap.  Garden City had back-to-back four-run innings in the 7th and 8th.  Humeniuk and Justin King homered for Indian Hills.  Zimmerman and Humeniuk both had three hits, three runs and two RBIs.  Weber and King also picked up a pair of runs batted in.  IHCC used five pitchers and all five gave up at least two earned runs.  Reliever Corey Jackson fanned five in 2 1/3 innings.
