Falcons Notch 3 Wins in Illinois

Marion, Illinois -- In a four-game set of games that started and ended with shutout victories, Indian Hills took three wins over the weekend, blanking Milwaukee Area Tech 8-0 before dropping a 3-2 decision to Southeastern CC on Saturday, then knocking off SCC, 5-3, and Shawnee (Ill.), 8-0, on Sunday.

Caleb Miley was dominant on the mound in Saturday's opener, holding MATC to just three hits in a route-going performance.  Miley didn't walk anyone and struck out 10.  Justin King supplied some of the offense with two singles and a triple and three RBIs.  Ryan Humeniuk had two hits and two runs batted in and Jet Weber also knocked in two.  Declan Buckle scored twice and Evan Grayson smashed a solo homer as the Falcons started the weekend off on the right foot.

Southeastern handed the Falcons a tough 3-2 defeat in the following game.  Weber had three of his team's seven hits.  Humeniuk and Zachary Fascia drove in the IHCC runs and they were scored by Buckle and Evan GraysonRodny Valdes went five innings as the starting pitcher, giving way to Corey Jackson, who fired two innings of hitless relief.

Indian Hills got a measure of revenge on Sunday, scoring three times in the first and disposing of SCC, 5-3. Starter Oracio Deleon went four innings and was credited with the win.  Jordan Bahnuk followed with two scoreless innings and Fascia earned a save by pitching the 7th.  King doubled and tripled and drove in three runs, Jameson Hart also tripled home a run, and Humeniuk scored twice.

DJ Depiero and Brett Kauzlarich combined for the second shutout in the nightcap, Depiero going the first five innings and allowing only two hits while striking out five.  Kauzlarich had his second straight shutout relief performance, permitting just one hit in the final two innings.  Buckle poked two doubles and a triple and had two runs and three RBIs.  King also knocked in two. 

The Falcons have split their first 10 games of the spring.  They are scheduled for their home opener next Saturday against MCC-Maple Woods in a 2:00 doubleheader at Pat Daugherty Field.
