IHCC Sweeps at Home

BB vs. MW

Centerville -- Indian Hills used strong pitching and timely hitting to take both ends of a doubleheader from MCC-Maple Woods in the Falcons' home-opening action at Pat Daughtery Field on Saturday.

The Falcons won by scores of 7-2 and 4-2 to improve to 7-5 for the season.

IHCC starter Oracio Deleon gave up an early two-run homer in game one, but setttled down after that.  He fanned seven in three innings of work.  The Falcons got a run on a Jay Hester RBI single, then plated five in the 5th.  Zachary Fascia had a bases-loaded single to drive in two and Colin Potrzeba added an RBI double.  Christian Pena's run-scoring single brought in an insurance run the following inning.  Corey Jackson had three innings of scoreless relief and Tanner Halverson finished up in the 7th.

MCC-Maple Woods jumped on top early in the second game against IHCC's Rodny Valdes, who recovered to go five innings, permitting only four hits and fanning seven.  Once again, it was a big inning that put the Falcons ahead.  They scored four in the 4th with Hester's two-run double the big hit in the frame.  Jordan Bahnuk and Fascia each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the sweep for IHCC.

The Falcons were supposed to play a return DH at Maple Woods on Sunday, but that twinbill has been moved to Mar. 18.
