Falcons' Offense Erupts Vs. MCC-Maple Woods

Liberty, Missouri -- Indian Hills put 29 runs on the scoreboard in sweeping a Sunday twinbill with MCC-Maple Woods.  The Falcons used a seven-run 4th inning to cruise to an 18-9 victory in game one, then opened up a 9-0 lead in the second game on the way to an 11-6 win.

IHCC got home runs from Ryan Humeniuk, Zachary Fascia and Christian Pena in the opener.  Jet Weber was 2-5 with three runs and two RBIs, Humeniuk was 2-4 with two runs and four RBIs, Fascia was 2-4 with three runs scored, Pena knocked in five runs, Declan Buckle scored three times, and Jay Hester picked up two RBIs.  Tanner Halverson came on in relief of starter Caleb Miley and threw three shutout innings with four Ks in getting the pitching victory.

Justin King homered and he and Fascia each drove in three runs in the nightcap.  Indian Hills built the early lead, then saw the host team plate six runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.  D.J. DePiero was outstanding in his five-inning start for IHCC, permitting only one hit and three walks and fanning five.  After the rocky 6th, Brett Kauzlarich finished up with a scoreless inning of relief, striking out a pair.

The Falcons are now 9-5 and will host Ellsworth CC on Monday and Iowa Central CC on Wednesday at Pat Daugherty Field.
