Miami, Oklahoma -- After being idle for over two weeks, the Indian Hills baseball team got back on the diamond this week, and won three-of-four games from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.  After losing the first game of the series on Sunday, the Falcons took the next three tests and got solid relief pitching from sophomore Jordan Bahnuk in a Monday sweep.

NEO used a five-run 5th inning to grab the Sunday opener, 8-5.  Juan Silva led the Falcons at the plate with two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base, Jameson Hart had a hit, a run scored and a run-batted-in, and Declan Buckle picked up two hits, a walk and a steal.  Starting pitcher Wyatt Wendell took the loss. 

"It was good to get back outside after over two weeks," said IHCC coach Matthew Torrez.  "It took us a couple of innings to get our feet back underneath us being outside again."

Indian Hills put a season-high 11 runs on the board in the nightcap, winning 11-6.  Torrez was happy to see the top of his lineup lead the charge with Buckle stroking two hits and driving in three runs, Garrett Takamatsu hitting a homer and a double and Alex Fisher scoring twice.  IHCC used four pitchers with starter Malik Abdul getting the victory.  Bahnuk got a strikeout to end the 6th inning and Nathan Chasey closed it out on the mound. 

Bahnuk was instrumental in the Monday sweep, getting the final two outs in the 5-3 win in game one, and throwing two scoreless innings and getting the win in the second game, an 8-7 decision.

"Luis Rivera did a really good job of throwing multiple pitches for strikes and made some big-time pitches in the middle of the game to get out of some jams," Torrez said of the first-game starter, who went 6 1/3 innings, allowing only three hits.  "Offensively, we got off to a good start.  Like most baseball games, those last three outs are tough to get.  Jordan did a really good job of coming in and shutting the door."  Alex Fisher knocked in three runs and had two hits and Hart and Silva had the other RBIs.

The IHCC coach noted his team got off to another hot start at the plate in the second game.  Indian Hills had two-run innings in the 1st, 2nd and 4th.  NEO scored in every inning but the 7th.  The Falcons plated the game-winning run in the top of the 7th.  Jet Weber contributed two hits and two RBIs, Hart had a two-hit game and Takamatsu homered for the second time in the series.  Zacharie Allard fanned eight in 4 1/3 innings as the IHCC starter.  Nick Marshall and Matthew Vasquez each got an out in the 5th and the Falcons turned the game over to Bahnuk who, in his 4th appearance of the series, struck out five and permitted only one hit in the final two innings.  Torrez said, "Allard gave us a solid first outing, battling through some tough innings.  And Bahnuk did another great job coming in late in the game and, again, slamming the door shut."

With the series win, the Falcons go above the .500 mark at 6-5.  They are slated to play four games against Colby CC this weekend in Missouri.
