Late Parkland Rally Dooms Indian Hills

Van Grieken

Normal, Illinois -- Indian Hills let a late lead slip away and the Falcons dropped a 7-6 game to Parkland College on Wednesday.  Parkland tied the game at 6-all with a three-run rally in the bottom of the 9th, then won the contest with a run in the 10th.

IHCC led 5-0 after 4 1/2 innings and starter Tomas Lopez was sailing along on the hill.  Parkland started their comeback with a pair of runs in the 5th, knocking Lopez out of the game.  They did their late-inning damage against the Falcons' Omar Vigil, who gave up the three runs in the 9th, and Milan Van Der Breggen, who took the loss after surrendering the 10th inning tally with two outs.

Cooper Huckabone went 3-for-5 and Ren Tachioka 2-for-6 to lead the IHCC offense.  Noel Perez had two hits, scored twice and doubled.  RBIs came from six different players -- Tachioka, Huckabone, Alejandro Gonzalez, Shane Morrow, Ricardo Van Grieken and Dave Janssen.  Van Grieken swiped two bases.

In addition to Lopez, Vigil and Van Der Breggen, Ryoya Yamashita and Madduz Hoaglund also pitched for the Falcons.  Hoaglund gave up three hits and a run in his 2 2/3 inning stint.

Indian Hills is slated to open their home schedule against DMACC on Thursday.
