Former Indian Hills Baseball standout Dave Janssen is set to return to the program as an Assistant Coach for the Warriors. Janssen began his tenure on head coach Matt Torrez's staff on August 12.

Janssen returns to Centerville after spending three seasons as a player for Torrez, including the program's run to the 2021 JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO. During his sophomore campaign, Janssen was named the 2021 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Defensive Player of the Year after posting a .996 fielding percentage while throwing out 19 runners as the team's primary backstop.

"Dave is coming to us fresh out of school and is excited to give back to a community that gave him so much while he was here," stated Torrez. "Dave will work with the catchers, hitters, and split some time with the pitchers. We are extremely excited to have Dave back on campus."

Following his stint at Indian Hills, Janssen played one season at the University of Central Oklahoma before spending his final two seasons of his collegiate career at West Texas A&M University as a member of the Buffaloes' baseball program.

Academically at Indian Hills, Janssen was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic team three times, including two first-team selections and was a four-time selection to the ICCAC Academic All-Region First-Team. Janssen was awarded the Indian Hills Athletics Heart of Service Award during his final season in Centerville, an award given annually to a team or individual that contributes to the college campus and surrounding communities in the Indian Hills Community College region.

"I'm super excited to return to Indian Hills as a coach and I'm ready to help us get back to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction," stated Janssen.

While at West Texas A&M, Janssen was the recipient of the Lone Star Conference Athletic Performance Student Academic Award and earned National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year honors in 2024.

A native of Gemert, Netherlands, Janssen was a member of the Dutch National Team U23 program.

Janssen previously spent time as a Baseball Performance Intern with Florida Baseball Armory in Lakeland, FL, working with athletes to provide individualized movement drills and training sessions, exercise technique and instruction, and utilizing modern technology to assess strength and conditioning performance. Janssen also served as a Strength and Conditioning Coordinator with Absolute Baseball in Amarillo, TX and a Athletic Performance Intern with West Texas A&M.

Janssen received his Bachelor of Science in Sports & Exercise Science degree from West Texas A&M and an Associate of Science degree from Indian Hills.
