IHCC Cheer & Dance Teams bring home 6 trophies!

The 2016-17 IHCC Cheer and Dance Teams have just returned from a successful 5 day camp at the UCA and UDA's largest cheer camp in the nation at Chula Vista Resort - Wisconsin Dells, WI. The UCA College Spirit Camp had over 1,500 cheerleaders, dancers, and mascots from Big 10 Schools, Community Colleges, and Univeristies from Ohio to Arkansas! UCA's mission for Cheer Camps is to inspire leadership on and off the field. Camp curriculum is centered on game-day cheerleading and crowd leadership. The environment is always a low pressure high-energy fun, and their focus is squarely based on the needs of each individual squad. Attending instructors are top UCA and UDA coaches from across the nation, many of whom were headed to perform at Olympic events in Rio de Janeiro following the conclusion of camp.

The IHCC Cheer and Dance teams were placed in a division with much larger 4 year colleges due to only having 3 other community colleges that attended the week long camp. IHCC Cheer then ranked higher than all community colleges and achieved 4th place in sideline, 3rd in cheer, and 2nd in fight song. IHCC Cheer also won the 3rd place overall award for the entire camp. In addition the IHCC Dance team brought home a Superior Trophy for one of their routines, performed by Rachel Lendt; and received a Superior for the fight song, which was competed as a team.

The most exciting award for both teams was the UCA's Program Improvement Award. This award is only given to one returning team (that has previously attended camp - usually for years), that exhibits huge strides and extreme improvement in their program. So both teams are hugely excited to have been recognized for their hard work and team development.

Overall, together the Cheer and Dance Teams brought home 6 trophies and could not be more excited to return next year!
