Cyndi Mellin was named the new Competitive Cheer Coach/Game Day Experience Coordinator at Indian Hills in December 2014 and has steadily built the program since then.  It was a new position at IHCC designed to reflect the college's intent to have the cheer squad not only perform at college events, but also enter cheer competitions.  And squad has done just that.

In 2022, Mellin led the program to the Small College Co-Ed Intermediate National Championship at the Cheer Ltd. Nationals at CANAM. Competing at the event for the second consecutive year, the Warriors put together a zero-deduction routine to take the top honors in their respective division. The Warriors most recently competed at the UCA Gameday Nationals in Orlando, FL in 2023 where the team earned a top-20 national finish.

Mellin, at Ottumwa native, is a graduate of Iowa State University where she was a member of the ISU cheer squad for four years.  The squad consistently finished in the top seven at national competitions during her time at ISU.

After graduating from Iowa State with a bachelor's in education, Mellin earned a scholarship offer from Hawaii Pacific University where she received her MBA.  While in Hawaii, Mellin also won numerous partner stunt championships while continuing her cheerleading career.

Mellin has been a coach, judge and head instructor at UCA events. She has also acted as a cheer consultant for squads nationwide, including those in the Big 10 and Big 12 conferences.
