Marion, Iowa -- Indian Hills was able to overcome a one-stroke lead by Missouri Valley after the opening day of the Mount Mercy Classic, using a second-day score of 279 to blow away the field and coast to a win in the Warriors' first action of the fall. Indian Hills, ranked No. 2 in the season's first poll, wound up 14 strokes ahead of runnerup and host Mount Mercy University.

The Warriors had four of the top eight scores, including sophomore Jackson Bugdalski's two-under par 142, which tied for third place. Soph Jack Duguid was a shot behind Bugdalski and in a two-way tie for 5th at 143. The two IHCC golfers fired two-under 70s in the second round on Sunday.

Jakob Bares and Eric Gilpin, both IHCC sophomores, shot 144 for 36 holes, even par over the par-72 Hunter's Ridge Golf Course. Gilpin had the best round of any IHCC player, a 69 in round two.

The four Indian Hills second-year players were followed by a pair of freshmen. Ekkarat Leksuwan recovered after shooting a 77 on Saturday to go one-under with a 71 in the second round. Ricky Sanders tied for 20th place in his IHCC debut, carding a 150 that included a one-over par 73 in the second 18 holes.
