Marion, Iowa -- Indian Hills expanded a three-shot lead after the first round and rolled to a 12-stroke margin claiming the Eagle Spring Classic at Hunter's Ridge Golf Club on Monday. The Warriors, still ranked No. 1 in the nation in Division I, had scores of 290 and 281, the latter seven shots under par, in picking up the win in their second meet of the spring, outdistancing runnerup Bethany College.
Jackson Bugdalski was the meet medalist and had plenty of IHCC company at the top of the leaderboard. Bugdalski opened with a one-under 71 and followed with a four-under round of 68, both the low scores for those 18 holes. He led the Indian Hills assault on par that included eight rounds of par 72 or under recorded by five different players.
The Warriors had four of the top five scores. Bugdalski was followed by Ricky Sanders (3rd), Jakub Bares (4th) and Clayton Larsen (5th). Sanders posted scores of 72 and 70, Bares fired 72 and 71 and Larsen had a second-round 69, three-under par. Eric Gilpin's 72 in round 2 was part of the even-par success for Indian Hills.
The next action for the top-rated Warriors comes in the Southwest Kansas Shootout at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas Apr. 10-11.
