Murray a National Coach of the Year

Ottumwa -- For piloting Indian Hills to six tournament wins and a runnerup finish at the NJCAA National Championship in his second year at the helm, IHCC's Rob Murray received the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award presented by Golf Pride Grips.  The Indian Hills head coach was one of six coaches nationwide to earn the award, which will be presented in December at the Golf Coaches Association of America national convention.

Murray had the Warriors ranked No. 1 in the nation throughout this year's spring season.  They finished a close second to Odessa College at the national tourney after taking the lead following the third round.

Under Murray's guidance, IHCC had four all-district players for 2016-17, three All-Americans and the Warriors' Ricky Sanders claimed the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award.

Murray earlier was named the top coach in NJCAA District III.

After one season as an assistant coach at Indian Hills, Murray succeeded Mike Hagen as head coach in 2015.  He led the Warriors to a fourth-place finish at the 2016 national championship.
