Former Golf Coach Hagen to Hall of Fame

Ottumwa -- Former Indian Hills golf coach Mike Hagen, now the head coach at Arkansas State University, will be inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Hall of Fame in December.

Hagen coached at Indian Hills for 10 years and led the Warriors to four national titles in a five-year span before departing for Arkansas State.  He coached the Warriors to eight District III championships and 59 tournament wins. Hagen was a three-time recipient of the NJCAA Division I Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award and was inducted into the NJCAA Golf Hall of Fame in 2014, right before the Warriors went out and won the national title that year.  IHCC golfers earned 12 PING All-American selections, five All-Freshman honors, and two Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Awards while he was Indian Hills.  In addition to his golf coaching duties he also served as IHCC Athletic Director for six years.

In his four years at Arkansas State, Hagen has led the Red Wolves to 12 tournament championships, including a school-record six titles in 2016, the second-most in the nation that year.  He was Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year in 2016.  Two former Indian Hills golfers -- Jakub Bares and Julien Sale -- are on the Arkansas State roster.

Hagen will officially be inducted into the GCAA Hall of Fame in Las Vegas on Dec. 3.
