Dismukes Joins Hoops Staff

Dismukes

Ottumwa -- Jamere Dismukes is a new addition to the Indian Hills basketball program, hired as an assistant coach on Hank Plona's staff.  Dismukes comes to IHCC from Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton, Florida, where he was their national team's top assistant coach/player developer.  At Victory Rock he was involved in recruiting, monitoring academic progress, on-court development, film breakdown, and scouting.

Plona looks forward to having Dismukes on his staff.  "Jamere is an energetic young coach that will continue to help our players on and off the court," the head coach said.  "He has experience coaching at the junior college level as well as the prep school level.  He is a well-rounded coach that will seamlessly fit in here and help Indian Hills continue to be one of the top programs in the country."

Dismukes has also been an assistant coach at Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois, and Rich Township High School in Park Forest, Illinois.  With the Black Hawk program, he was instrumental in recruiting, creating daily practice plans, scouting and academic monitoring.

The new IHCC assistant also served as the co-head coach for the Florida Sons AAU program, where he helped guide the team to a top-14 finish on the Adidas circuit and assisted them in earning an invitation to the Adidas Finale.

As a player, Dismukes was part of a Chicago State University team that won the first conference championship and postseason berth in school history.  He was picked for the Great West Conference All-Newcomer Team and led the conference in assists.

Dismukes earned an associate's degree from Black Hawk College and then a bachelor's in criminal justice from Chicago State.

Among the players he helped develop at Victory Rock Prep was current Indian Hills standout Tomas Woldetensae, who played there before arriving at IHCC for the 2017-18 season.

Dismukes will be on hand to help with the instruction at the summer youth basketball camp at Indian Hills, slated for July 16-19.
