IHCC Wins at Moberly

Moberly

Moberly, Missouri -- Indian Hills pulled away in a close game with a late 10-0 run and the Warriors finished off Moberly, 93-80, on Saturday night for IHCC's fourth straight win at Fitzsimmons-John Arena.

The Warriors used a three-point play by Tyler Chisom and a three-point bucket by Iziah James to erase a one-point deficit late in the first half and never trailed again in improving to 8-3 for the season with their 10th victory in the last 12 meetings with the Greyhounds.  That 6-0 spurt led to a 35-32 halftime lead.  Moberly got to within a point in the final half although the Warriors never trailed after intermission.

Scoring leader Tomas Woldetensae picked up his fourth foul in the first minute of the second half, but Indian Hills had some players step up in his absence.  Woldetensae had three treys in the first period, but never returned to action after he was removed from the lineup with more than 19 minutes left in the game.

The score was 74-67 with five minutes to play.  Chisom, who led IHCC with a season-high 22 points, started the decisive run with a layup on a nice feed from Devontae Lane.  By the time JD Muila scored on a putback off a missed free throw there were 3 1/2 minutes remaining and the Warriors had an insurmountable lead of 17 points.

Chisom scored 17 of his 22 points after halftime; Nick Wagner drained three 3-pointers in the second half and totaled 14 for the game; Lane had all 10 of his points in the final 20 minutes when the Warriors poured in 58 points.

Indian Hills nailed a dozen threes and is averaging nearly 11 made 3-pointers a game.

MACC's Alonzo Verge entered the game as the nation's leading scorer at around 29 points a game and the Warriors did a good job on him defensively, limiting him to five field goals and 17 points.  Sean Miller-Moore led Moberly with 22 and Raekwon Drake added 17.

IHCC bounced back after suffering a loss to No. 1 Northwest Florida State a week before.  Moberly took their third loss in a row.

The Warriors wrap up the pre-Christmas part of their schedule with three home games in the next week:  Southwestern on Tuesday, Western Nebraska Friday and Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Saturday.
