Muila

Sedalia, Missouri -- On a night when all 12 players who played got in the scoring column, Indian Hills handled Three Rivers CC, 87-58, as part of the inaugural Iowa-Missouri Challenge.  The event, being played on State Fair CC's home court, matched four Iowa schools against four from Missouri for two days.  Day one saw each state get two wins.

Indian Hills did its part for the schools from Iowa with another strong defensive performance, holding Three Rivers to 36 percent shooting while making 53 percent of its attempts as IHCC notched its third consecutive win to begin the season.

The Warriors took the lead early, saw TRCC get to within a point at 25-24 and they then outscored the Raiders, 18-5, to close out the first half.  Another run, this one 15-4, at the start of the second period allowed IHCC to build an insurmountable lead and coast to the victory.

Eleven of the 12 Warriors who saw action had a second-half field goal and five different players made a 3-pointer.

Chris Childs took advantage of two technical fouls called against the Three Rivers bench, following a play on which Childs was fouled, to make seven straight free throws.  That extended the lead from 34-29 to 41-29 in the final minute of the first half.  Childs led the IHCC attack with 13 points.  JD Muila added 11 and Maurice Calloo 10.  Chris Payton played his first game for the Warriors and led them in rebounds with eight while scoring six points.  Both of his field goals, one in each half, came on a tip-dunk.

Lydell Geffrard's 10 points paced Three Rivers.

The Warriors will play the final game of the Challenge on Saturday night against the host school, State Fair.
