Indian Hills Continues to Sizzle from Three, Clocks Kankakee

Calloo

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills used another big 3-point shooting night to record its 11th straight win Saturday night, connecting on a dozen threes in an 83-55 demolishing of Kankakee CC at the Hellyer Center.

It marked the 9th game in a row that IHCC has drained at least 12 shots from behind the arc, a streak unmatched in program history.

As they have so often in their 17-2 season, the Warriors came out firing from 3-point range, knocking down 8-of-15 in the opening half.  They wound up 12-of-27 for 44 percent.

With their lead at a single point, 14-13, Chris Payton's jump hook started a string of 16 consecutive points for Indian Hills.  Following the Payton field goal, Chris Childs, Malique Jacobs and Maurice Calloo all drilled threes and Childs punctuated the run with another make from distance as the lead ballooned to 30-13.

Calloo, who had a season-high 20 points, had another three early in the second period and when Drake Jeffries splashed home a long three with 3 1/2 minutes gone in the last half the lead was up to 25.  Calloo had four 3s for the night, Childs had three and Jeffries and Tyon Grant-Foster each had a pair.

Grant-Foster led the Warriors with 21 points.  Dmari Nixon topped the Cavaliers with 16.

IHCC had 20 assists on its 30 field goals -- seven by Jacobs and six for Loseni Kamara.

After Indian Hills scored the first six points of the night, Kankakee tallied the next seven.  Grant-Foster first tied the score at 11 and then gave the Warriors the lead for good with a free throw.  Shortly after that came the 16-0 IHCC run that gave them a cushion they would not give up the rest of the way.

Indian Hills will take its 11-game unbeaten streak on the road to West Burlington Wednesday night for the ICCAC opener against Southeastern CC.  Tipoff will be at 7:00 at Loren Walker Arena.
