NO. 3 WARRIORS THROTTLE PIRATES AT HELLYER

Ottumwa, IA – No. 3 Indian Hills Men's Basketball improved to 3-0 on the year with a 108-48 drubbing of Independence Community College (KS) on Saturday night. The Warriors wrapped up play at the RV & Power Sport Classic with a 2-0 record on the weekend.

The Warriors picked up its largest margin of victory over an opponent since defeating Northeast Community College at the Hellyer Center by 52, 115-63 on February 6, 2021. Indian Hills, ranked No. 3 in the preseason National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men's Basketball Poll, placed five players in double-figures to run past the Pirates.

Indian Hills has now won 38 consecutive games when scoring 100 points or more, a streak that dates back to March 3, 2015.

Sophomore Truth Harris (Mount Vernon, NY/Pensacola) led the offense with a team-high 15 points. Harris has led the Warriors in scoring in each of the last two contests and is shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from three-point range this season.

Sophomore Ryan Myers (Brooklyn, NY/Iona) buried three three-point shots to finish with 14 points on the night. RJ Ogom (Chicago, IL/Fort Wayne) came off the bench to score 14 points for the Warriors, including 10 in the second half. Kiran Oliver (Chicago, IL/New Mexico State) and Enoch Kalambay (Gatineau, Canada/Orangeville Prep) each posted 10 points in the win.

Freshman Trevion LaBeaux (Waterloo, IA/Ames) posted eight points to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds while Davontae Hall (Chicago, IL/Hyde Park) filled the stat sheet with seven points, six assists, six rebounds, and a pair of steals. Freshman David Hermes (Stockholm, Sweden/Central Pointe) made his collegiate debut with nine points and five rebounds in just 11 minutes of action.

As a team, the Warriors converted 55.1 percent of their shots from the floor while connecting on 15-32 (46.9 percent) from three-point range. The Warrior defense limited the Pirates to just 19.4 percent (7-36) from three-point range. Indian Hills managed a 59-26 rebound edge and forced 17 Independence turnovers.

Next up for the Warriors is a matchup at John A. Logan College (IL) on Wednesday night. The Volunteers were a national tournament team from a year ago and are off to a 2-0 start on the year. Indian Hills upended John A. Logan a year ago with a thrilling 76-74 victory in Mattoon, IL.
