Shackleford OT Goal Beats Hawkeye

Waterloo, Iowa -- Akean Schackleford's goal early in overtime enabled the Indian Hills Warriors to avenge an early-season loss to Hawkeye CC on Wednesday. Shackleford's 15th goal of the season and his second of the game gave the Warriors a 2-1 victory over the RedTails.

The contest was scoreless until Shackleford beat HCC goalkeeper Dane Lee in the 64th minute. Shackleford, who is tied for 6th in the nation in goals, has at least one goal in all nine matches in which the Warriors have scored in their 7-4 season.

Hawkeye's Kobe King tied the score at 1-all with around 90 seconds to play in regulation. Shackleford then sent the Warriors home with a victory with his overtime goal.

IHCC had lost to Hawkeye, 3-2, in their second game of the season on Aug. 31 and saw Iowa Lakes tally a goal at the outset of overtime just last Saturday in a home loss. Wednesday's conference win pushed the Warriors' league record to 6-4.

Gabriel Ivlev stopped five shots in goal for Indian Hills, which outshot the RedTails, 18-7.

IHCC heads to Norfolk, Neb., on Saturday to take on Northeast CC. They defeated the Hawks, 7-1, earlier in the season.
