IHCC Puts 6 on Men's All-Region Soccer

Ottumwa -- Freshmen Akean Shackleford and Joao Brasil headline the Indian Hills choices on the All-Region soccer teams announced by the conference office. IHCC had six players named all-region performers, four freshmen and two sophomores.

Shackleford and Brasil were the Indian Hills representatives on the first team.

Shackleford (Savannahlamar, Jamaica) enjoyed a tremendous season, leading the Warriors and the entire conference in goals with 22. He added five assists. Shackleford had a stretch of 13 straight games in which Indian Hills scored a goal and he had at least one of their goals. He scored six game-winning goals and is tied for 5th in the country in goals scored.

Brasil (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was a second-team all-region pick last year and moved up to the first team this season. He scored a goal and had three assists.

The all-region second team included Warriors Leandro Oshiro (Otagumma, Brazil) and Craig Brand (Auchtermuchty, Scotland), both freshmen. Oshiro scored five goals with five assists and Brand had three assists.

Honorable mention selections from IHCC were freshman Rodrigo Pascual (Madrid, Spain), who tallied two goals and three assists, and sophomore Pedro Campos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), with five goals and two assists.

Indian Hills, under first-year head coach Jon Fridal, set a school record for victories in an 11-7 season and return lots of talent, including the four freshmen all-region players, for the 2017 campaign.
