Shackleford First IHCC Soccer All-American

Ottumwa -- Forward Akean Shackleford was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-American 2nd team, becoming the first-ever men's soccer All-American from IHCC. Shackleford was one of the four forwards named to the 11-player 2nd team.

Shackleford, who was earlier named first-team all-conference, tied for 7th in the nation with his 22 goals, a total that led the conference. He was also 7th nationally in shots with 80. He notched six game-winning goals during the course of the best season in program history.

The freshman from Savannahlamar, Jamaica, had a streak where he scored at least one goal in 13 consecutive games in which the Warriors had a goal. He added five assists during the year for a total of 49 points.

Indian Hills, under first-year head coach Jon Fridal, set a school record for victories in an 11-7 season and the Warriors return lots of talent, including Shackleford and three other freshmen all-region players, for the 2017 campaign.
