IHCC Knocks Off St. Charles

Ottumwa -- Getting goals from six different players Indian Hills stepped out of the conference for a 6-1 victory over St. Charles (Mo.) on Friday at the IHCC field. 

Nathaniel Mederos Fonda opened the scoring for the Warriors, getting a goal in the 12th minute that was assisted by Theodoro di Piero and Rodrigo Parades.  About three minutes later Reshon Phillip doubled the IHCC advantage with his 7th goal of the season, Paredes getting another assist.

Di Piero and Leandro Oshiro notched unassisted goals later in the half to give Indian Hills a 4-0 lead at the break.

Akean Shackleford, who has scored at least one goal in 10 of the 11 matches this season, started the second-half scoring with a goal, assisted by Matthew Widdowson and Oliver Hunt.  It was Shackleford's 18th goal, three more than di Piero.

Wilson Barahona closed out the IHCC scoring in the 87th minute with an assist from Oshiro.

St. Charles avoided the shutout when Victor Rada tallied a goal with around a minute remaining.

"Given the fact that we're rotating in different guys and getting some new guys more playing time, I would say overall this was a job well done," said Indian Hills coach Jon Fridal.  "We gave more guys a chance to show what they could do.  We certainly came out in the first half and played well with four goals right off the bat."

IHCC outshot St. Charles, 31-10, with 14 shots on goal for the winning Warriors, now 10-1 for the season.

Ross Dalton began the match in goal for IHCC and gave way to Gabriel Ivlev who stopped three shots on goal.

Indian Hills is right back in action on Saturday in a conference test against Northeast (Neb.).
