Shackleford, Phillip Named All-Americans

Shackleford and Phillip named to All-American Team

Ottumwa -- Akean Shackleford was named to the first team and Reshon Phillip was a second-team selection on the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I All-America teams.

Shackleford, a sophomore from Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica, put together two outstanding seasons at IHCC, scoring 22 goals as a freshman and 33 this season.  He was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference player of the year after the postseason tournament.  This past season, Shackleford led the conference in goals and was second nationally.

Phillip, a freshman from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, topped the Warriors in assists with 16 and he added 12 goals.  The assist total was in the top-10 in the country and he joined Shackleford on the all-league first team.

Shackleford is one of four forwards on the 11-player All-America first team, and Phillip is one of only five freshmen, out of 22 players, to earn All-America honors.

The two standouts helped Indian Hills qualify for the first national tournament appearance in program history.  Shackleford was part of two IHCC squads that combined to win 29 games, 18 of those victories coming in 2017.
