Win Streak to Six for IHCC Men's Soccer

Soph Day

Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills men's soccer team's late-season run continued on Saturday, the Warriors blitzing visiting Dakota County Technical College, 11-1, at the IHCC field.  Nine Indian Hills sophomores were honored before the match, and IHCC then proceeded to pile up a 5-1 halftime lead and tack on another six goals in the final period.

Filippo Reggio got the offense going for the Warriors with an early goal that was assisted by David Medeiros.  It was one of three assists for Medeiros, who leads the team with 13, and also tops IHCC with 11 goals.  Medeiros had two goals, including an unassisted tally at the end of the opening half.  Reggio also had two goals as did Sacha Vandersteene.

Vincent Grillot, Luis Barojas, Victor Hugo, Lucas Nappi and Camilo Porto also had goals.  It was the first IHCC goal for Porto.  Reynaldo Villafuerte and Pedro Caldeira had second-half assists, the first of the season for both.

Matthew Desfossez started in goal for the Warriors and stopped three shots on foal.  Nicolas Arce took over with 25 minutes to play and made one save the rest of the way in his first action of the year.

The win, number-six in a row, pushes IHCC's overall record to 9-3-1 and their conference mark to 8-2.  Their final regular-season contest is Tuesday when they host Illinois Central.
