Snyder, Texas -- The Indian Hills men's soccer team traveled to Texas over the weekend and notched a pair of wins to start off their 2019 season.  The No. 18-ranked Warriors defeated Trinidad (Colo.) State, 2-1, on Friday, then blanked the host school, Western Texas, 2-0, Saturday.

The Warriors, coming off an 11-win season in 2019 when they were led in goals by David Medeiros, saw the talented sophomore from Massachusetts pick up where he left off with the first goal of the new year and a couple of assists against Western Texas.

Medeiros, a first-team all-region selection a year ago, scored in the 35th minute against Trinidad State off an assist from Rodrigo Rogatto.  The Warriors doubled their lead ten minutes into the second period when Jack Sharman scored with an assist by Melodino Sanches.  Trinidad cut the margin in half with their lone goal five minutes after the Sharman score, but couldn't get the equalizer and the Warriors escaped with the victory.  Alan Roman had one save in goal for IHCC.

The following day, Joao Vitor, another returning starter and all-region pick from last year, started the scoring in the 35th minute off a nice feed from Medeiros.  Five minutes after halftime Vincent Grillot tallied an insurance goal, with Medeiros again credited with the assist.  That was all the scoring the Warriors needed as Vinicius Cadengue, making his Indian Hills debut in goal, got the shutout, making three saves.

The Warriors, in coach Juan Espinal's second season at the helm, will play at home for the first time when they host Anoka-Ramsey (Minn.) on Friday afternoon at 4:00.
