Barroso Hat Trick Paces Warriors

Roman

Quincy, Illinois -- Three straight first-half goals by Gustavo Barroso and the shutout goalkeeping of Alan Roman allowed Indian Hills to win their second road contest in Illinois in three days on Sunday, the Warriors knocking off John Wood CC, 8-0.

After a pair of early goals by Caio Brandao and Takumi Semba for the Warriors, Barroso tallied three goals in ten minutes.  His first was assisted by Adam Dahou, who had an assist on Brandao's score, and on the second Rodrigo Rogatto picked up an assist.  Barroso's goal that finished off the hat trick was an unassisted one.

The 5-0 halftime score stood until the Warriors once again scored three times in ten minutes.  Diego Sada, assisted by Gabriel Sodre, got the first goal, then Bruno Sperandio took a pass from Brandao for another one five minutes after that, and Furutani finished off the scoring with an unassisted tally.

Meanwhile, Roman stopped five shots in goal for IHCC, garnering his third shutout of the season for an Indian Hills team that is now 5-1-1.

Brandao, Semba, Sada and Sperandio each recorded their first goal of the season.  Speaking to the depth of this year's squad, which coach Juan Espinal has talked about since the preseason, the Warriors have goals from 12 different players in their first seven matches; nine players have at least one assist.

Indian Hills plays at Scott CC in Bettendorf on Wednesday in a conference matchup, starting at 3:00.
