Warriors Take Advantage of ICCC Mistake for Conference Win

Men

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills got credit for the winning goal when an Iowa Central player headed a ball into his own goal and the Warriors claimed a 3-2 victory over the Tritons on Saturday at the IHCC field.

It was a bounce-back win for IHCC after their loss to Iowa Western on the road three days before.  It was also their 10th win of the season and left them with a 10-2-2 overall record and a 5-1-1 conference mark.  It's the 4th straight season the IHCC men's soccer team has won 10 or more games after failing to do that in the first nine years of the program's existence.

Iowa Central's Christian Koffi got the scoring started with the only goal of the first half, in the 9th minute.  The Tritons added to their lead about midway through the second period before the Indian Hills offense got untracked.

Freshman Cesar Moreno notched his first goal of the season in the 72nd minute to make it a one-goal contest.  Moreno then assisted on Rodrigo Rogatto's 6th goal of the fall four minutes later to knot the score at 2-2.  Rogatto is tied for the team lead in goals with Gustavo Barroso.  The Warriors picked up the game-winning tally in the 82nd minute to secure the victory.

Vinicius Cadengue stopped three shots in goal for IHCC.

The Warriors now have three home matches in a five-day period:  against Parkland (Ill.) Tuesday, Hawkeye CC Wednesday and Northeast (Neb.) on Saturday.
