Warriors Smash Four School Records at Region Meet

2016-17 Warrior Track & Field Team

Council Bluffs, Iowa -- New school records by Colton Lanman, Demitrius Mitchell, Jalen Lozano and one relay team highlighted Indian Hills' performance in the Region XI meet at the Reiver Athletic Complex. And freshman Nathan Winters was a double winner as the Warriors finished 3rd as a team, trailing only powerhouses Iowa Central, which won its 11th straight region title, and Iowa Western.

Lanman leaped 6'8" to take 2nd in the high jump and established a new IHCC mark and qualify for the NJCAA national meet. Lozano ran 11.34 in the 100, Mitchell turned in a 14.91 in the 110 meter hurdles and the 4x800 relay unit of Jack Hastings, Zachary Hougland, Luke Sigler and Garrett Hinson finished in 8:12.70 for the other school records.

Winters won both the shot put (55'1") and discus (157'10").

Other notable events for the Warriors were the triple jump where Javaris Logan jumped 42'9" for third place; a 3rd by the 4x100 relay team of Lozano, Spencer White, Mitchell and Joseph Stewart in 43.46; Sigler running 4:15.88 for 6th in the 1500 meters;Hougland 7th in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 10:39.42; and Andrew Hart who was 8th in the 400 meter hurdles in 58.13.
