Indian Hills Competes in June Meets

Sporting Clays

Pella/Waukee, Iowa -- The 2017-18 season came to an end for the Indian Hills sports shooting team this month with a pair of competitions.

Three members of the IHCC squad went to the New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee to take part in the Iowa SCTP State Skeet Championships and Indian Hills swept the men's collegiate division.  Jason Herr placed first, shooting 139/150.  Second was Colton Selvy with a 134, and Karson Gonnerman took third place with a 111.  "I'm proud of all three of these guys for all of their extra hard work and dedication," said IHCC coach Jake Stalzer.

The previous weekend, coach Stalzer took three individuals to compete in the Iowa SCTP State Sporting Clays Championships in Pella at Black Oak Clays.  It was a challenging 150 bird course, according to the IHCC coach, but his trio performed well.  Jason Herr tied for first place with a 116 score but lost in a shootoff with Hawkeye CC's Jason Lentz and had to settle for second place.  Colton Selvy placed third with a 112.

"The 2018-19 season will be here before we know it," Stalzer explained.  "Our first trap competition will be at home in Centerville on Sept. 8 against Ellsworth CC."
