Warriors Split Two in Oklahoma

SB vs. NOT

Tonkawa, Oklahoma -- Indian Hills put the finishing touches on a 9-2 road trip with a split of Thursday's doubleheader against Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa.  The Warriors took game one, 11-0, behind the shutout pitching of Vanessa Bakley, then dropped an 8-7 decision in the nightcap.

IHCC almost pulled off a sweep, but a four-run rally in the top of the 7th in game two came up a run short of tying the score.

The opener saw Indian Hills pound out 16 hits, four of them by Kelsey Carder, and score six runs in the 6th inning.  Taylor Takushi and Aubrey Miller each had three-hit games and Taylor Jones and Carlyn Stanley had two apiece.  Takushi, Miller, Jones and Stanley all scored two runs and Takushi and Miller drove in three runs.  In addition to their hitting performance, the Warriors stole seven bases, two by Jones.  Bakley allowed only two hits and struck out 10.

Alexis Vroegh slammed two home runs and Lexi Smith one in the nightcap and the Warriors piled up 10 hits, three by Jones.  Erin Kuba joined Vroegh with two hits and Vroegh knocked in three runs.  Jones swiped four more bases and scored three runs.

IHCC fell behind 8-3 before pushing four runs across in the 7th.

The Warriors will play a doubleheader at St. Charles (Mo.) on Feb. 22.
