Warriors Pick Up Two Easy Wins

Softball

Oskaloosa, Iowa -- Indian Hills scored 20 runs and banged out 30 hits in taking a pair of games on Thursday.  IHCC took care of the William Penn junior varsity, 10-0, and the Central JV, 10-2, in a triangular at the WPU field.

Against the Penn JV, Indian Hills scored in all five of its at-bats, with five runs crossing in the 3rd inning.  Abby Straight was stellar in the pitcher's circle for IHCC, hurling a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts.  Erin Kuba supplied part of the offense with two singles and a double and Straight helped her own cause with three singles.  Lexi Smith, Helaina Johnson and Alexis Westercamp each had two hits.  Smith tripled and Johnson had a couple of doubles.

In their second game of the day, the Warriors had another five-run inning -- the 5th -- and rapped out 17 hits.  The top three hitters in the lineup scored eight of the runs.  Kuba was 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, Taylor Jones was 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs scored, and Jaylie Reints went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Six other players had a hit.  Taylor Takushi had two.  Tia Kohl went the distance as the IHCC pitcher, scattering seven hits.

Indian Hills is now 28-7 and will play four consecutive doubleheaders next Tuesday through Friday.
