Oskaloosa, Iowa -- Indian Hills scored 20 runs and banged out 30 hits in taking a pair of games on Thursday. IHCC took care of the William Penn junior varsity, 10-0, and the Central JV, 10-2, in a triangular at the WPU field.
Against the Penn JV, Indian Hills scored in all five of its at-bats, with five runs crossing in the 3rd inning. Abby Straight was stellar in the pitcher's circle for IHCC, hurling a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. Erin Kuba supplied part of the offense with two singles and a double and Straight helped her own cause with three singles. Lexi Smith, Helaina Johnson and Alexis Westercamp each had two hits. Smith tripled and Johnson had a couple of doubles.
In their second game of the day, the Warriors had another five-run inning -- the 5th -- and rapped out 17 hits. The top three hitters in the lineup scored eight of the runs. Kuba was 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, Taylor Jones was 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs scored, and Jaylie Reints went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. Six other players had a hit. Taylor Takushi had two. Tia Kohl went the distance as the IHCC pitcher, scattering seven hits.
Indian Hills is now 28-7 and will play four consecutive doubleheaders next Tuesday through Friday.
