Warriors Slug Southwestern

Snider

Creston, Iowa -- Indian Hills scored 29 runs and pounded out 34 hits in romping to 17-6 and 12-2 wins against Southwestern CC on Wednesday.  The sweep brings IHCC to within a game of the .500 mark as they improve to 13-14 for the spring.

The first game lasted only five innings.  IHCC's Brooke Snider swatted the second pitch of the contest over the fence and the Warriors didn't stop hitting in the subsequent 10 innings.  Snider had a two-run homer later in the opener, bringing her season total to nine round-trippers.  After her first-inning bomb, Indian Hills added three more runs.  Southwestern came back to make it 4-3 before the Warriors went to work again offensively.  Chloe Olson slugged her 9th homer and she and Snider were both 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three driven in.  Of Indian Hills' 19 hits, nine were doubles, including three by Jordan Hollon and two by Jakala Hall.  Hall was 4-for-4 and Hollon, Macey Harrington, Alexis Westercamp, and Vanessa Bakley joined her with two runs scored.

Alexis Groet worked the first four innings in the circle and Hall finished up.

The Warriors once again set the tone in game two with a five-run first inning.  Olson rapped out four hits and drove in three runs.  Westercamp slammed her 4th home run, Harrington picked up three hits and Bakley and Hall had two RBIs each.  The Warriors stroked 15 more hits and scored in every inning.  Nina Hendriks got her first college win, going five innings and allowing only five hits and two earned runs, with four Ks and one walk.

Indian Hills will open conference play next week, at home against Southeastern CC.
