Council Bluffs, Iowa -- Indian Hills slugged four home runs, but all four were solo shots and that was the only offense the Warriors could muster as they lost both ends of a league doubleheader with Iowa Western on Sunday, 5-2 and 4-2.
The hosts pushed two runs across in the 1st inning of the opener. Alexis Westercamp got IHCC on the board with a homer in the 5th to cut the deficit in half. The Reivers scored twice on back-to-back run-scoring doubles in the bottom of the 5th to make it 4-2. Then, after Brooke Snider connected on her team-leading 13th roundtripper in the 6th, Iowa Western's Tyla Lee swatted a solo homer in the 6th to provide the final margin. Each team had five hits.
In the second game, Jordan Hollon and Jaylie Reints accounted for the IHCC runs with a couple more bases-empty homers. Iowa Western, though, jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning and added an insurance run on a two-out double in the 6th. The Warriors were held to only three hits as their conference record fell to 4-2 and season record to 17-16.
IHCC steps out of the conference for a doubleheader at Ellsworth CC on Tuesday.
