Two More Shutouts for IHCC Pitchers

Shutouts

Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills pitching duo of Alexis Groet and Nina Hendriks on Thursday duplicated the shutout performances they turned in against Ellsworth just two days before as the Warriors got another sweep of the Panthers.  IHCC won 9-0 behind Groet and then 6-0 with Hendriks blanking ECC.

The first game featured a pair of home runs from Macey Harrington, who knocked in five of the Indian Hills runs.  The Warriors broke on top with a six-run 1st inning and added their other three runs in the 4th.  Meanwhile, Groet provided another masterful pitching job, giving up only three hits and striking out 10.  Jakala Hall, Taylor Spreckelmeyer and Lyla Kriegel each had an RBI and Chloe Olson picked up two hits and scored twice.

In the nightcap, Olson slugged her 10th homer and had two singles.  Six other Warriors had a hit and Harrington, Jaylie Reints and Hall all drove in a run to back Hendriks, who allowed five hits and fanned seven while walking only one.  IHCC talllied single runs in the 1st and 4th innings and then scored two times in both the 5th and 6th to polish off the Panthers.

Indian Hills hosts State Fair CC on Saturday in a twinbill at Hellyer Field.
