HUISMAN NAMED ICCAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Ottumwa, IA – Madi Huisman (Ankeny, IA/Ankeny Centennial) has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Softball Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 in the circle for the Warriors.

Huisman made four appearances during the team's undefeated week where the Warriors posted an 8-0 record. Huisman picked up victories in three of those wins – at Independence Community College (KS), vs. Labette Community College (KS), and vs. State Fair Community College (MO). Huisman also tossed two innings of scoreless action vs. Dakota College at Bottineau (ND).

In 15.2 innings of work during the week, Huisman did not allow an earned run and yielded just one run in total. Huisman struck out 20 batters, including a season-high seven in the team's 12-0 win over Independence. Huisman also struck out six batters in a 5-1 win over State Fair. The opposition managed just six total hits on the week vs. the right handed hurler.

Huisman joined fellow teammate Destiny Lewis (Indianola, IA/Indianola) who earned both the ICCAC and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Player of the Week awards this week.

On the year, Huisman boasts a 6-2 record after picking up a win over Lincoln Land Community College on Monday. Huisman has lowered her earned run average to 1.56 on the year and has totaled 39 strikeouts.

The Warriors (13-6), riding a 10-game winning streak, are back in action this weekend with its ICCAC opener at Marshalltown Community College. The four-game series gets underway at 1:00 PM on Saturdyay.
