SOFTBALL CRACKS NATIONAL RANKINGS AT NO. 19

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Softball team cracked the national rankings for the first time this season, checking in at No. 19 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Softball Poll.

The Warriors (37-8, 17-1) went 7-1 last week, winning seven consecutive games, including a four-game Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) series over Marshalltown Community College. In the team's eight games last week, the Warriors outscored the opposition 94-28, including a season-high 29 runs against Marshalltown.

During the team's run last week, freshman Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) set the all-time single season home run record with her 28th of the season. The Warriors have currently hit 105 home runs on the year and are within striking distance of the program record of 110 set in 1999.

Indian Hills, who received votes in the preseason national poll and appeared in the receiving votes category for the last five weeks has lost just two games dating back to March 2. The Warriors compiled a 26-game winning streak during the stretch.

The Warriors are the lone ICCAC team to appear in the national rankings this week which is headlined by No. 1 Yavapai College (AZ) who owns a 43-2 record. The two teams rank among the nation's best in several offensive categories including home runs. Yavapai has hit a nation's best 155 home runs compared to the Warriors 105 which ranks third overall.

Next up for the Warriors is a home doubleheader vs. ICCAC opponent Southeastern Community College at 2:00 PM Wednesday at R.L. Hellyer Field. The Warriors have won all four contests between the two teams this year.
