Mitchell, McElmeel Hat Tricks Lead to IHCC Win

Bettendorf, Iowa -- It didn't take the Indian Hills women's soccer team long to bounce back from their first defeat of the season. After losing a tough 1-0 battle to Iowa Central in overtime last Saturday, the Warriors used three goals each by Hannah Mitchell and Megan McElmeel in a 7-0 blanking of Scott CC on Wednesday afternoon.

Mitchell started the scoring with an early first-half goal, After Scott tied the score at one, the duo of Mitchell and McElmeel went to work. They alternated goals -- interrupted only by a score by teammate Ellie Priest -- until the tally was 7-0.

The hat tricks give Mitchell eight goals for the season and McElmeel has five. Priest scored her third goal of the year as Indian Hills improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

It gives Indian Hills four players with hat tricks so far this fall. Georgia Reece had one in the opening match against Lincoln (Ill.) and Taylor Hiatt scored three goals when the Warriors shut out Hawkeye CC.

The Warriors host Northeast (Neb.) on Saturday afternoon in their next action.
