McElmeel-Hallissey Combo Works Again for IHCC

Ottumwa -- Getting its only two goals from a pair of freshmen Indian Hills blanked Scott CC, 2-0, on Saturday. It was Sophomore Day with the Warriors celebrating the 11 sophs on the roster, but the first-year duo of Megan McElmeel and Laura Hallissey provided the goals for the second straight game.

Hallissey booted the game-winning goal and McElmeel also scored when the Warriors defeated St. Charles CC in their previous game. Against Scott, Hallissey opened the scoring after over 70 minutes of scoreless soccer and McElmeel punched home an insurance tally as No. 18-ranked IHCC won its 8th game in a row.

McElmeel earned an assist on Hallissey's score and Hannah Mitchell, one of the sophomores honored, had the assist on the McElmeel goal.

McElmeel took over the team lead in goals from Mitchell with her 12th. The goal was Hallissey's 9th of the season.

The Warriors outshot Scott,16-8, and soph Sophie Ledger stopped three shots on goal as the IHCC goalkeeper.

Indian Hills puts it 8-game winning streak on the line on Tuesday when the Warriors host No. 6 Iowa Western at 3:30 at the IHCC field. The Reivers knocked off IHCC 7-0 last month in Council Bluffs.
