IHCC To Offer Soccer Clinics

Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills soccer programs are offering two six-week clinics, starting Jan. 19.

One clinic will concentrate on skills for youth soccer players ages 8 to 14 and will run from 7 to 8 p.m. on six consecutive Thursday nights, beginning Jan. 19 and ending Feb. 23. This is designed to improve technical ability through dynamic and challenging drills for all ranges in ability. The training sessions will take a player's technical base to the next level, whether they are a beginner or at an advanced level.

The second clinic is open to high school-age players and will be offered from 8 to 9 p.m. on the same six nights as the youth clinic - Jan 19 - Feb. 23. This clinic will focus on conditioning with speed and agility drills, plyometric exercises and strength-enhancing drills. Athletes will be pushed through a college-level workout similar to what the Indian Hills teams do and this will be a great way to get in shape for the upcoming season.

Those who attend are asked to bring a soccer ball, water bottle and shoes to change into for the indoor workouts.

The clinics will be held in the Tom Arnold Net Center on the IHCC Ottumwa campus and the cost to attend is $45. Individuals can sign up online on the IHCC athletics website.
