Murphy's Hat Trick Helps Trip Up Lakers

Iowa Lakes

Ottumwa -- Freshmen Emily Murphy and Miranda Kurtt combined for all the goals in Indian Hills' 5-2 victory against Iowa Lakes at the IHCC field on Saturday.  Murphy's three goals give her 22 for the season, tying Brooke Duea's 2008 total for the most in a single season in program history.  She also assisted on one of Kurtt's two scores as the Warriors completed a sweep of the season series with ILCC.

Murphy, with an assist from Kurtt, got the Warriors on the board to start the scoring.  Murphy then added another goal about 10 minutes later, with Emma Rosner getting an assist, her team-leading 13th of the year.  After Iowa Lakes tallied their first goal, Kurtt had the answer for IHCC, assisted by Kiri Chiba, who chalked up her 12th assist.

Kurtt opened the scoring in the second period, and after an Iowa Lakes goal, Murphy nailed down the IHCC win with goal number-22 and her 5th hat trick of the fall.

Goalkeeper Megan Wick had four saves for Indian Hills, now 7-1 for the season.

The Warriors play twice this week:  at Southeastern Tuesday and at home against Southwestern Illiniois Thursday.
