Record-Breaking Effort for Dodson at Central

Pella, Iowa -- Freshman Kaysha Dodson set the tone for the Indian Hills track squad early in the Central College Open at Ron Schipper Stadium on Saturday. Dodson, in the best performance of her IHCC career, won the high jump with ease, jumping 5'5" to smash the old school record of 5'3.25" and eclipsing the NJCAA national qualifying standard by two meters.

Indian Hills had another first-place finish, from Amanda Wakelin in the 400 meters in a time of 61.39. Wakelin came in just in front of teammate Peyton Coffin, who was second in 61.88. In the 200 meters, Coffin was 3rd in 27.37 and Wakelin 6th in 27.73.

Aryka Parsons won the 3000 meter steeplechase in 12:57 and Kelsey Maize was 4th in the 800 meters in 2:39.

Coffin, Maize, Parsons and Wakelin teamed up for a 3rd place finish in the 4x400 relay. Their time was 4:22.

Indian Hills will compete in the Kip Janvrin Invitational this Thursday and Friday, followed by the Drake Relays on Saturday.
